By volunteering my time at local museums, I have learned what it means to be a leader in a professional setting. The relationship between museum and visitor can often be personal, which is why it is so important to have the characteristics of a leader. You have to be able to stand up and positively represent your organization, and people will be able to see that in you. I have taken leadership in situations where it has been needed and felt that the end result was always good.

Museums in the 21st century are as relevant as ever. These organizations are pillars in academia circles, but are also places of research, outreach, community centers, etc. A valuable resource when it comes to preserving and interpreting history, museums can often be overlooked. Even as today, we are still seeing where we are looking to the past to see connections between the coronavirus and other epidemics/pandemics in the world.
